Expert Panel Discussion and Student Debate on the role of Indigenous Knowledge on Climate Change in Zimbabwe
A discussion on how local rural communities have managed to adapt to the the changing climate and the lessons that have been passed down from generation to generation. The panel discussion draws from some leading scholars from the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and some community resilience experts from the local rural areas sorrounding Bulawayo. The discussion also offers a space for future researchers and academics to participate in the conversation in a way that initiates conversation, sparks interests and also breaks down very complex issues into very accessible ones by allowing university students to debate topics that expand their thinking on climate change issues affecting Zimbabwe. The topic for the day will be : The future of Zimbabwean daptation to the changing climate is in the prioritisation of Indegenous Knowledge.

Capacity Building for the Dissemination of Climate Change Information by Media Practitioners.
Southern Region
The capacity building programme was meant to enlighten media practitioners in the southern part of Zimbabwe on climate strategy documents in place and be able to generate articles understood by the general public particularly focusing on the revised Zimbabwe Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) In specific, the workshop sought to: Build capacity of media practitioners on climate strategy documents in place as well as various climate change management initiatives with the goal of sensitizing them on the need to report extensively and intensively on the same. It equiped the media practitioners with information, knowledge and skills to understand the climate strategy documents, with a view to demystifying the same for their audience.

On August 17 2021, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Zimbabwe under the hashtag #PredictPreventAdapt collaborated with the Institute For Sustainability Africa and the Zimbabwe Department of Climate Change on enhancing Climate Reporting in the Zimbabwean corporate sector.

The panelists discussed the changing role of women in Zimbabwe’s economic structures and the priorities for promoting greater economic inclusion, agency and influence of women in the country. It also focused on the differing impacts of COVID-19 on women’s economic activities across various sectors, as well as along rural-urban and formal-informal economy lines.
