The works council is the employee representative body in the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung that emerged on the basis of elections. We are the employer’s negotiating partner legitimised by the employees themselves. We are contact partners for operational problems and conflicts and advocate constructive solutions. By virtue of our legal position, we are able to represent colleagues’ concerns.

The Employer’s Social Partners

As regards business performance, we value respectful interaction and discussion that takes place on an equal footing. We see ourselves as the employer’s social partner. That is why a culture of business partnership is important to us, in order to enable more success for the foundation’s work by cooperating with the foundation management.

We play a role in improving communication between employees and management. We promote the transparency of interests, structures, procedures and decisions. We see ourselves as a representative of interests and a mouthpiece of the employees, but also as advisers to management in personnel matters. At the same time, we mediate decisions back to the employees. We represent the employee’s vested interests with just as much vigour as when advocating for the foundation’s overall welfare. Hence, making it possible to counterbalance different interests in favour of the overall welfare of the business.

We make the case for improving working conditions in the foundation. We call for equal treatment and foundation-wide standards, so that all employees have the opportunity to advance their career.

From Within the Ranks of the Staff

All members of the works council are themselves KAS employees. Thus, we are well acquainted with the everyday lives, concerns and questions of colleagues in all main departments. We are supporting the current relocation of the foundation to Berlin in a constructive way and are committed to good working conditions at all Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung locations both in Germany and abroad.

We are working on developing the corporate culture, in other words, all factors influencing cooperation and occupational well-being in the foundation. Our employees want to identify with their work in the foundation and to feel appreciated in a good working environment. Together with the employee, it is in our interest to attract and retain the best personnel for the foundation. If you apply for a position at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and have questions about the foundation, please get in touch with us.

From Health Promotion to Reintegration

We call for the promotion of occupational health and support the reintegration of colleagues following a long period of illness. Together with the employer, we are using the “audit berufundfamilie [work and family audit]” to reconcile work and family life to an ever-greater extent. The introduction of teleworking and new working time models (including comptime account), more flexible working times and sabbaticals are an example of our achievements. Together with the foundation management, we promote new ideas for improving the framework conditions for working at the foundation. With the works council magazine “KASpekte”, several times a year we provide colleagues with interesting information to read about the KAS’ global sphere of influence.
