Report of seminar held on 7 September 2010

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) in collaboration with the Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) and Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA) organized an economic forum on social protection at Cresta Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on 7th September 2010. The function was second in a series of such events aimed at discussing and finding common ground on pertinent economic issues affecting Malawi. Patricia Khomani presented a paper on: ‘Social Protection Programs and Factors that Contribute to their Success: a Broad Perspective’.

A documentary about socio-political reporting during the World Cup 2010

During two weeks Josephine Landertinger followed the 19 participants of the intercultural journalistic seminar, which took place during the Soccer World Cup 2010 in Johannesburg. The participants from Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Germany researched on what impact the World Cup has had on South Africa. The seminar was organized by the Media Programme Sub-Sahara Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

Malawi´s Economic and Development Model

Report of seminar held on 10 June 2010

The joint seminar on Malawi’s economic and development model took place in Lilongwe on the 10th of June 2010. The Seminar was co-organised and co-hosted by the Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA), Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF). At the core of the seminar was a discussion on analyzing Malawi’s economic and development model and finding out whether it was capitalist, social market or a hybrid.

The perfect time for a journalists academy in Dubai

Amidst the most turbulent times for the emirate of Dubai, the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation held its 4th German-Arab Journalists Academy. From December 2nd til December 12th nine German JONA-scholars together with nine young Arab journalists researched stories for a common magazine. Conclusion: The intercultural discourse allows for a much better understanding of the situation in the Gulf region. And rumours that the emirate might once again become a barren desert, remain part of the fairy-tales of the Arabian Nights.
