When the Taliban destroyed the Buddha statue in Bamyan in March 2001, theenormous dimension of their strategy of cultural destruction became visible. Theproject “Discovering Democracy – Young Kabul Art 2007” supported not only thereconstruction process of the first working circles of young Afghan artists also thethoughtfulness of the participants was focused on democracy because democracycannot only be described as the state of the art, also it can be stated artistically.
