Within the (US and non-US) top 150 think tanks in the world, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has been placed 25th and it has been ranked number 1 within its network, as well as the best think tank with a Political Party Affiliation. Furthermore, it received the best rating among the German political foundations in the categories “Best managed” (7th), “Best Transdisciplinary Research Think Tanks” (13th), and “Think Tanks with the Best External Relations/Public Engagement Program” (18th).

The Report was prepared by the University of Pennsylvania’s International Relations Program. Its results were launched in January at the World Bank in Washington, DC and at the United Nations in New York. The purpose of the rankings is to help improve the profile and performance of think tanks while highlighting the important work they do for governments and civil societies around the world. More than 6500 think tanks were nominated after an eight-month process involving almost 2000 scholars, politicians, journalists and other experts. The evaluation criteria included creative policy recommendations for decision makers, networking with the experts’ community on the field of politics, publications, participation in social debates as well as the reputation of the organizations among politicians and experts.
