Political Leadership of the Future: Challenges for Youth in a Post-COVID-19 Society
The speakers were young MPs and members of the Club for Youth Issues and Policies:
Artina Qazimi, Member of Parliament (Alliance for Albanians)
Monika Zajkova, Member of Parliament (Liberal Democratic Party)
Safije Sadiki Shaini, Member of Parliament (Alternativa)
Fisnike Bekteshi Shaqiri, Member of Parliament (DUI)
Timčo Mucunski, Member of Parliament (VMRO-DPMNE)
The young MPs had the opportunity to share their views on the priorities of the Club, their cooperation with young people and other stakeholders, and about the Club's activities. Additionally, as a representative of the civil society, the president of the National Youth Council of Macedonia, Bojan Petrovski, took part as a speaker. The event attracted interest in the public and was attended by more than 70 young people, representatives of youth organisations, media, and others.
The opening remarks of the event were made by Daniel Braun, the Official Representative of KAS in Skopje, who stressed that policies should not focus on the parties' own constraints, but rather on the young generations. He noted that debates will not always be easy, but at the end of the day, it is important to reach good solutions.
Jovan Jauleski, MP and Coordinator of the Club for Youth Issues and Policies, stressed that the main focus of the Club should be the implementation of the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies. He also called to the institutions to be more focused on the implementation of this law.
The discussion touched upon the issues of better monitoring the implementation of the Law on Youth Participation and Policies, better involvement of young people in the work of the Club for Youth Issues and Policies and the possibility to contribute their ideas, the need for the Club to increase the number of legislative initiatives submitted to the Assembly, and better representation of youth topics in the media and the public. The speakers also called on the young people to submit their proposals and to share their problems with the MPs, especially with the Club for Youth Issues and Policies.
