The conference aims to discuss methods, issues and challenges related to the historical treatment of the period 1945-1990. During the transition years, a large number of books, studies, documentary volumes, etc. were published and, in addition, conferences, round tables and public debates were held. Together, these provide a rich reference base for a more professional assessment of totalitarian Albania. Furthermore, the conference aims to create a professional environment for discourse among historians, to bring innovation and new perspectives to the historical reappraisal of the past, as well as to contribute to a deeper scholarly engagement with this topic. The results and contents of the conference will be part of a special issue published by the Institute of History and the KAS.
