The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung acts as an important partner for the promotion and development of local politics in Albania and the strengthening of democracy. In local politics, the citizens have the opportunity to elect the local politicians themselves and thus to participate actively and democratically. They experience daily where problems and need for action locally exist or which political decisions become directly and effectively visible. Among others, the mayors of Pogradec and the Hanseatic City of Wismar, Ilir Xhakolli and Thomas Beyer, as well as the spokesman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag for Economic Cooperation and Development, Volkmar Klein. On the agenda are presentations and discussions on local, communal and social work on the ground. A trip to Bishnica with a worship there and a visit to the schools in Proptisht and Velcan are also on the program.
