CONFERENCE IN RIO ON THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTIONAL COURT'S CLIMATE PROTECTION DECISION

Rule of Law in Latin America Program, KAS Brazil, Getúlio Vargas Foundation

Stephan Harbarth, President of the Federal Constitutional Court, who traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as part of the “J20 Summit”, a conference of the leading judicial representatives of the G20 countries, which began on Sunday, took advantage of his stay to give a lecture at the Getulio Vargas Foundation University on May 10. In a lecture at the Getulio Vargas Foundation University on May 10, Prof. Harbarth not only presented the Federal Constitutional Court's 2021 decision on climate protection to around 130 students, but also discussed the subject with Supreme Court judges Luís Felipe Salomão and Gilmar Mendes.

On June 1 and 2, the Forte International Security Conference was held for the twentieth time in Rio de Janeiro. It was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in cooperation with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Brazil.

Die Vierte Revolution in der Internationalen Sicherheitspolitik

Die 16. Ausgabe der Internationalen Sicherheitskonferenz "Forte de Copacabana" hat am 19. und 20. September zu dem Thema "Die vierte industrielle Revolution: Auswirkungen auf die internationale Sicherheit und die Neugestaltung der globalen Ordnung" in der Schule der brasilianischen Marine in Rio de Janeiro stattgefunden. Als Hauptredner zu der Thematik der Konferenz traten der brasilianische Verteidigungsminister Fernando Azevedo e Silva und der Parlamentarische Staatssekretär im Bundeswirtschaftsministerium MdB Thomas Bareiß auf. Die Konferenz hat mit 1.750 Anmeldungen und fast 600 Teilnehmern im 16. Jahr ihres Bestehens einen Rekord aufgestellt und zeigte, wie groß das Interesse an dieser Thematik ist.

Bereits zum 15. Mal stand Rio de Janeiro auch dieses Jahr wieder ganz im Zeichen der Internationalen Sicherheitskonferenz “Forte de Copacabana”. Zu diesem Anlass kamen am 21. September Politiker, Militärs, Diplomaten und Akademiker aus Europa und Lateinamerika zusammen, um über sicherheitspolitische Herausforderungen zu diskutieren. Organisiert wurde die größte internationale Sicherheitskonferenz Lateinamerikas von der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) und dem Brasilianischen Zentrum für Internationale Beziehungen (CEBRI) mit Unterstützung der Delegation der Europäischen Union in Brasilien.
