Tomorrow’s Brazil

The start of the National Forum brought together experts and decision-makers with the goal of discussing Brazil´s development and its future prospects. Prof. Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt, chairman of the German council of economic experts, held a key note speech at the headquarters of the Brazilian Development Bank BNDES. He had been invited by the KAS to Brazil in order to introduce the German system of Social Market Economy. In particular, the economic expert focused on the model’s resilience in times of crises and its capacity of promoting a socially just and sustainable development.

A secure Europe in a multipolar world

This years Europe Day came early to Rio de Janeiro. It was celebrated on the 8th of May by means of an academic conference dedicated to the European Union.

On the 26th of April the Second International Forum on Climate Change and Carbon Dioxide Emission in Cities took place in Porto Alegre to present and discuss viable possibilities in reducing Carbon dioxide emissions.

Second National Conference of the Heads of the Municipal Departments for Environmental Affairs

The Heads of Departments for Environmental Affairs of the capitals of the Brazilian federal states (CB-27, Capitais Brasileiras) met in Porto Alegre on the 22nd of April. The Second National Conference, held on the "Earth Day", resulted in the successful signing of the Charta of Porto Alegre.

Preparation for the national CB-27 meeting

At the moment, this year´s regional meetings of the CB-27 are taking place. Besides the exchange of information and experiences, the main purpose of the event is to intensify the planning of the next national forum in april.

Die HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration zu Besuch bei der KAS

„Progression and Perspectives of Brazil“ ist das Thema unter dem sich eine Gruppe Studenten der Hamburg School of Business Administration in diesem Jahr auf die Reise nach Brasilien machte, um sich vor Ort einen Überblick nicht nur über die Kultur, sondern auch über die wirtschaftliche, gesellschaftliche und politische Situation des Landes zu verschaffen. Teil der Exkursion war unter anderem der gestrige Besuch im Länderbüro der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Rio de Janeiro.

On the 19th of September 2012, the ninth edition of the International Security Conference of the Fort of Copacabana gathered in Rio de Janeiro politicians, academics, military officers, diplomats, intellectuals and representatives of the civil society of Europe, Latin America and the United States to debate relevant topics on International Security.
