Details
Experts from national and international institutions (INPE, IPP, Rockefeller Foundation, GTZ, Ministry of Environment, Fiocruz, GEMA, UNISDR, COPPE) and Rio de Janeiro´s high-ranking politicians will be invited to discuss the metropolis´ current situation in the context of environmental changes. The event’s title is "The City of Rio de Janeiro´s Resilience and Adaptation Plan."
During the event, perspectives and solutions concerning sustainable urban development will be presented and discussed. The focus of the event is not just the ability to adapt to climate change, but also the city's resilience against external influences, i.e., the so-called resilience.
The event will take place in Rio de Janeiro´s Operations Center, founded in 2010, which in itself is a tool to enhance the city’s resilience within the disaster management context.
With the Aim of making a concrete plan of the current situation, the meeting of experts aims to contribute significantly to the future development of urban Rio de Janeiro. The final document will be presented to Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio and president of the C40 next year in commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the metropolis.
