The National Forum brings together decision-makers from various backrounds. The KAS has invited Prof. Dr. Schmidt as a representative of the German council of economic experts to introduce the German System of Social Market Economy.

Celebrating its silver jubilee, the serial organized event "National Forum" will take place from May 13th to 16th. This event, which is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, was launched by the former Minister of Planning, João Paulo dos Reis Velloso. The forum ambition is it to bring together decision-makers representing government, industry and civil society and to offer a platform for an open and constructive dialogue. Moreover, this series of events aims at fostering the development of Brazil through an open discourse. In order to discuss the prospects of the System of Social Market Economy in Brazil, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation has invited Prof. Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt. He is President of the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) (Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institute of Economic Research) and chairing the German council of economic experts, which reports directly to the german government.

The title of this year’s edition is "Tomorrow’s Brazil- The Magic of Development”.

Three key areas will be in focus:

•the third industrial Revolution

•on the path to a developed Brazil

•a middle class nation (its powers of transformation)

The event foresees the attendance of Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil, Luciano Coutinho, President of the Brazilian development bank (BNDES), Fernando Pimentel, Minister of Development, Industry and External Market, Alexandre Tombini, President of the Brazilian Central Bank, Graça Foster, CEO of the largest Latin American gas and energy company Petrobras, and of many other guests.
