The European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is delighted to invite you to the next session of our event format “KAS Europe Talks”. In this online format, we are organising discussions with the Director of a different KAS Office on a regular basis, in which the latest developments in the respective country or region as well as the status quo of the relations with the European Union are discussed. The next session will focus on Georgia and its relations to the European Union between accession and geopolitical tensions.

Furthermore, we try to assess the implications the result could have for the country’s relationship with the European Union. This ses-sion will focus on Portugal, where early Parliamentary Elections are scheduled for 10 March 2024.

25th Anniversary of the Euro – Navigating through Crisis towards Stability

Working Breakfast of the KAS-BdB Finance Forum 2024

The start of the new year was also the 25-year anniversary of the Euro. These 25 years were – in part – very tumultuous years. The Euro and with it also the EU has developed in unexpected ways. Its guardian, the European Central Bank, had to take on a much more active role than it had been envisioned originally. The currency itself and its image has also changed over the years. Despite the troubled start it has also become a symbol for European Unity and how close we as Europeans have grown together over the years.

Discussion round at the European Parliament in Strasbourg

Europe in science and politics – a traditional event series of the European office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) – took place on 13th and 14th March in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Every year, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organizes this get-together of selected Professors with CDU/CSU-Deputies in the European Parliament together with The Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The second 'Think Digital!' publication summarizes the discussions and the findings on the policy measure "Horizon2020 and FP9". At a round table our experts discussed the opportunities and challenges of European Union fund and how each citizen can benefit.

EP-President Tajani underlines the importance of the European Unity and the dialogue with its citizens

In particular, the EP President identified three major European challenges. First, persistently large migration and migration movement do not decrease. Second, Antonio Tajani pointed out of the increasing fear of terrorism in Europe and third, the EP President spoke of the financial and economic crisis of the European Union.

Bundespräsident a.D. Christian Wulff sprach am 09. Februar 2017 anlässlich des Neujahrsempfangs der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Brüssel unter dem Motto „Mit Vertrauen in die Zukunft“ zum Thema „Ansichten auf Europa 2017“. Ebenso wandte sich Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, ehemaliger Präsident des Europäischen Parlaments und Vorsitzender der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, mit einem Mut machenden Appell an die rund 400 im Cercle Royal Gaulois versammelten Gäste.

In der Brüsseler Außenstelle der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung kamen Europa-Politiker mit Viktor Orbán zusammen, um über die Herausforderungen des Jahres 2017 zu diskutieren. Multilaterale Systeme lehnt der ungarische Ministerpräsident ab - fordert aber zugleich eine Europäische Verteidigungsunion. Diese könne Europa mehr Selbstbewusstsein verschaffen.
