Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) congratulates the incoming AMCEN President Madame la Ministre Estelle Ondo (Gabonese Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Responsible for the Protection and Sustainable Management of Ecosystems).

AMCEN (The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment) is a permanent forum where African ministers of the environment discuss mainly matters of relevance to the environment of the African continent. AMCEN was established in 1985 when African ministers met in Egypt and adopted the Cairo Programme for African co-operation. The Conference is convened every second year.

Starting 15 June 2017 for the next two years the Minister of Gabon, Madame la Ministre Estelle Ondo will preside over AMCEN. Discussions of potential cooperation with her have started at the 2017 AMCEN meeting, held from 12 - 16 June 2017 in Libreville, Gabon.
