COP 13 - Cancun, Mexico 2016

The project managers of EKLA-KAS, Giovanni Burga, Karina Marzano and María Fernanda Pineda, participated at COP 13, held in Cancun, Mexico, under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). We share a report on the main activities and outcomes of this conference, as well as information on how the CBD integrates the existing system of multilateral environmental agreements.

Research presentation: analysis of biodiversity policies and strategies in amazon countries

WORKING BREAKFAST

Within the framework of COP 12, of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Cancun, Mexico, we have organized a working breakfast to present the study: "Analysis of the impact and process in the implementation of biodiversity policies, strategies, plans and programs in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru”, developed by the Peruvian Society of Environmental Law (SPDA - for its name in Spanish)

Between November 19 and 29, 5 simulation workshops were held in negotiations on climate change in the cities of Lima and Cusco.

Low Carbon Industry: Renewable Energy in Latin America

Workshop and Study Launch

A workshop was organized by EKLA-KAS and GVces in São Paulo to debate with experts the results of a study on the Panorama of Renewable Energy: the Industrial Sector in Latin America.

Conversations on climate change between journalists and Latin American experts

Through group sessions of interviews with senior experts, Latin American journalists representing 9 countries debated crucial issues on climate change and their media coverage in the region.

Analysis on Sustainable Development and Energy Matrix in Latin America

International Seminar

Between November 7 and 9, 2016, EKLA-KAS and CEDIN held an international seminar in Belo Horizonte to discuss the normative and institutional aspects of access to clean energy and the impact of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in human development. Renowned professors, technical professionals and researchers from international organizations and Latin American countries, mainly Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico participated in the seminar.

Im Rahmen einer Delegationsreise vom 6. bis 10. November 2016 in Berlin trafen Abgeordnete aus den Staaten der AILAC-Gruppe (Chile, Peru, Kolumbien, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay und Peru) sowie Argentinien und Uruguay auf Mitglieder des Deutschen Bundestages und daran angeschlossene Expertennetzwerke (Think Tanks). Sie alle haben ihre inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte in der Umwelt- und Klimapolitik.

Ecological infrastructure and urban parks as strategies of climate change adaptation

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP

Taking advantage of the Interclima 2016 in the city of Arequipa, Peru, the International Workshop on Ecological Infrastructure and Urban Parks as climate change adaptation was held on November 3 at the Libertador Hotel. Event organized by Governance Peru and Arequipa Sustainable city, with the support of the EKLA-KAS Program.

Energy, Climate Change and Sustainable Development: Unpostponable challenges

Study Program

More than 25 people participated for 3 months in a Diploma offered by the University for Peace with the support of the Regional Program for Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The Diploma course was held at La Salle University in San José, Costa Rica.
