2nd German-Latin American Energy Conference

Santiago de Chile

The 2nd German Conference - Latin American Energy took place on the 29th and 30th of October in Santiago, Chile. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized the event along with the Lateinamerika Verein(LAV,Hamburg) and Pflüger International GmbH. In terms of content the focus of the event will be on commodity exports, the decentralised supply of renewable energies and the expansion of the electricity grid.

FIRST LATIN AMERICAN FORUM FOR URBAN GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE

In its first edition, the forum was held in São Paulo. Aiming to promote debate about the importance of green infrastructure in the cities of Latin America, experts from the region presented successful case studies and discussed possible ways of cooperation. The meeting was held during the Expo 2014 TeCobI. Representatives of the private sector, members of public entities, experts and students attended the event. Some of the major contributions can be found below.

THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE

The Conference had a prominent participation of international experts on environmental issues and worked as a starting point of the new phase of activities of the KAS´ "Regional Programme on Climate Change, Environment and Energy Security in Latin America". Bringing together more than 300 scientists, politicians and representatives of different public and private entities around the world, the "Third International Conference on Adaptation to Climate Change" prompted the debate about the current and future consequences of global warming in different areas.

The first solar energy plant installed on the roof of a private house in Rio de Janeiro has been inaugurated. All involved parties hope to inspire further micro-generators and to convince them of the advantages arising of power generation by means of photovoltaics.
