Auch für die christdemokratisch geprägte "Die Mitte", vormals CVP (assoziiert mit der Europäischen Volkspartei), ist 2022 ein wichtiges Jahr zur Vorbereitung auf die ersten Parlamentswahlen unter neuem Namen im kommenden Jahr.

Zur Hälfte der Amtszeit des Präsidenten Andres Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) stehen seine Versprechungen von Veränderungen der sog. „Vierten Transformation“ (Cuarta Transformación, 4T) in der wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Entwicklung Mexikos im Gegensatz zur Realität und werden durch die Verlängerung der Pandemie verschärft. Zudem stehen am 5. Juni 2022 in sechs Bundesstaaten Gouverneursposten zur Wahl, deren Ergebnisse den Verlauf der nächsten drei Jahre im Hinblick auf die politische Zukunft des Landes sowie die im Jahr 2024 bevorstehenden Präsidentschaftswahlen sehr deutlich beeinflussen werden.
