Study based on the results of in-depth interviews with owners and top managers of Ukrainian companies

It is impossible to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine restrictions for the Ukrainian economy without taking into account the vision and needs of the beneficiaries themselves — business representatives. To this end, the Center for Applied Research, in cooperation with Ekonomichna Pravda, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine, conducted a comprehensive study of key sectors of the economy that have faced difficulties in their work in 2020.

Ein Plädoyer für Projektmaßnahmen im ländlichen Raum der Mongolei

6231 Kilometer zeigte der Tacho unseres Projektfahrzeuges nach unserer jüngsten Dienstreise in der ländlichen Mongolei an. Konkret bedeutet das: mehrere Tage ohne Dusche, oftmals nur ein Plumpsklo, Hunderte Kilometer sandiger Pisten und gewöhnungsbedürftige kulinarische Genüsse wie Murmeltierfleisch, Kuhkopfsuppe und vergorene Stutenmilch. Auf diese Weise hat das Büro der KAS Mongolei in den vergangenen zwei Jahren Projekte und Maßnahmen in 20 der 21 Provinzen der Mongolei durchgeführt. Doch warum tut man sich das eigentlich an? Und wie ist es um die Nachhaltigkeit regionaler Maßnahmen bestellt? Dieser untypische Länderbericht ist ein Plädoyer für Projekte in der Steppe und soll Einblicke in die Aktivitäten unseres Auslandsbüros außerhalb Ulan Bators liefern.

Tracking and Analysis of Brazilian environmental and climate policy

In face of the complex system of decisions, changes and actions that the Brazilian environmental policy is currently inserted, it is with great satisfaction that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Brazil announces its support for the "Política por Inteiro" project. "Política por Inteiro" aims to provide a reliable, recurring and comparable data base on public policy signals and propositions in the environmental area in a "friendly" format and with credible data, and that creates a common "memory" about national decisions. Through the monitoring of government actions and rhetoric, systematic analysis of the situation and associated risks and the production and dissemination of information, it is intended to provide a tool to identify signals, interpret trends and consolidate them in an aggregate manner, using data science to inform citizens, advocacy networks and decision makers themselves. Each month an outlook is produced with the signals detected in the monitoring and monthly online events are also carried out to analyze the situation. Este 10 de diciembre conmemoramos un aniversario más de la adopción de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos realizada en 1948. Ello fue posible gracias al trascendental rol que desempeñaron Eleanor Roosevelt, primera presidenta de la Comisión de Derechos Humanos, René Cassin, redactor principal, así como Jacques Maritain, un humanista cuyo pensamiento inspiró la declaración. Juntos lograron plasmar el primer instrumento de carácter internacional que reconoció un conjunto de derechos humanos mínimos y esenciales para la dignidad de la persona humana que los Estados del mundo deben de respetar y garantizar.

Das Treffen des Europäischen Rates vom 10. und 11. Dezember 2020 blieb trotz der vielen Verhandlungsthemen überraschenderweise im Zeitplan. Pünktlich am Mittag des zweiten Gipfeltages konnten Ratspräsident Charles Michel, Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen und Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel weitreichende Gipfelbeschlüsse verkünden. Nach zähen Verhandlungen einigten sich die Mitgliedsstaaten einstimmig auf die Verabschiedung eines Haushalts für die Jahre 2021-27 sowie die Festschreibung verschärfter Klimaziele für 2030. Des Weiteren positionierte sich der Europäische Rat in mehreren außenpolitischen Fragen und tauschte sich über die wei-tere Koordinierung der Corona-Maßnahmen aus. Angela Merkel zeigte sich mit den Beschlüssen des letzten Gipfels im Rahmen der Deutschen Ratspräsidentschaft sehr zufrieden.

Friedliche Wahlen in Ghana – Verluste für die regierende NPP

Die Ergebnisse der achten Präsidentschafts- und Parlamentswahlen Ghanas sind knapp 48 Stunden nach Schließung der Wahllokale offiziell von der ghanaischen Wahlkommission verkündet worden: Der amtierende Präsident Akufo-Addo ist mit 51,59% der Stimmen wiedergewählt worden und wird in vier Wochen zum zweiten Mal zum Präsidenten Ghanas ernannt werden. NDC-Kandidat Mahama kam auf 47,36% der Stimmen. Allerdings hat die regierende NPP herbe Verluste bei den Parlamentswahlen erleiden müssen.
