Przypominamy sobie gest ówczesnego kanclerza Niemiec Willy'ego Brandta w Warszawie, który jako pierwszy kanclerz po II wojnie światowej przyjechał do Polski z okazji podpisania Traktatu Warszawskiego. Uklęknięcie przed Pomnikiem Bohaterów Getta w dniu 7 grudnia 1970 r. było głęboko osobistą reakcją szefa rządu, ściśle związaną w niemieckiej kulturze pamięci z nawiązaniem stosunków politycznych między Republiką Federalną a ówczesną PRL i późniejszą normalizacją między naszymi dwoma krajami.
