KAS – TEPPCON PARTNERSHIP CIVIC PROGRAMME MOVE TO SANDEMA
20 to 23 April 2009
As a follow–up to the numerous workshops organised in 2008 on the need to promote peace before, during and after the elections, KAS-TEPPCON Civic Education Programme has integrated peace education into its regular programmes. The programme will be implemented in conflict afflicted and seemingly peaceful areas with different emphasis. The maiden edition of the programme will take place at Sandema.
The two day workshop is under the theme:
Sustainable Peace for Development: Challenges, Roles and Responsibilities.
TARGET GROUP
The target groups include: Youth leaders of the various political parties, representatives from NGOs, representatives from various religious groups as well as representatives of other civil society groups. The selection of the target group is carefully done because of the great potential in sharing or bringing the value and the objectives of the workshop to many more people within their reach in the district.
Objectives of the workshop
The objectives of the Workshop include:
- To creating awareness in political party youth leaders on the significance of peace in development process.
- To create a platform for groups of divergent beliefs and political persuasions to learn and share ideas on their role in promoting and sustaining peace.
- To reawaken in participants confidence to play their effective role in civic rights and responsibility for sustainable development.
- Participants will be educated on the role of peaceful environment in development.
- Participants will come out with their own way forward on their contribution to sustaining peace for development.
