The third discussion of "The Spirit of Entrepreneurship" series took place on Wednesday 28th of May at EPI.nooand was co-organized by the National and Technical University of Athens, the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Greece. The event focused on the sector of Creative Industries. All discussants coming from the sector exposed their entrepreneurial experience and exchanged practices, knowledge and shared challenges.

Aimilia Protogerou, Researcher at the National Technical University of Athens, held the opening speech and presented her common research with Prof. Yannis Calogirou, focusing to the Greek field of Creative Industries. Whilst setting the stage through her preview of the Greek sector, she pointed out the strengths and weaknesses and the initiatives taken to support innovation and cooperation in the field.

The focus of the event was again the Discussion Panel, with the participation of German and Greek start-ups : Felix Daub, CEO of Klickfilm (Germany), Manos Moschous, Co-Founder and CTO of AbZorba Games (Greece), Dimitris Stefanidis, Co-Founder of G Design Studio (Greece) and Dimitra Kolotoura, Co-Founder of Zeus+Dione (Greece).

The discussants originated from various industries, including researchers, programmers and designers. During the discussion, the participants presented their Start Ups, their steps towards success as well as their former and current fears. In this way they provided the public with a complete description of what does it really mean to start up and establish a business in the field of the Creative Industries.

The moderation was held by Demetrios Pogkas, Journalist, who made sure to extract from each presenter the determinant factors and challenges in starting up, their inner thoughts on what contributed to their success and their long term plans.

Common fears and anxieties among the entrepreneurs exist, especially at the beginning of their start-ups, but one can face them and rise above them with a well-organized business plan and strong determination. Problems on funding arise through the whole first cycle of the start-ups existence, therefore entrepreneurs need to remain constantly in the move, if they want to see their start up to rise in to a sustainable business.
