On 20 April, 2015 at the River Room at King's College London (KCL), the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS), together with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in London, organized the second event of the "EUCERS/ISD/KAS Energy Talks 2015" on "Kazakhstan as an Emerging Energy Superpower", followed by a panel discussion organised together with the Nazarbayev University and KAS Kazakhstan on EU-Kazakh Relations.

Nicht nur geografisch, auch politisch führt Großbritannien dieser Tage ein Inseldasein in Europa und sieht sich wieder einmal dem Vorwurf ausgesetzt, eine Sonderstellung einnehmen zu wollen. Vor dem in Aussicht gestellten Referendum über einen möglichen EU-Austritt sucht Europa nun nach einem möglichen Kompromiss. Sir John Major warb in Berlin um Verständnis für die Sorgen seines Landes und pragmatische Lösungen. „Bei einem Austritt würden beide Seiten viel verlieren“, so der ehemalige Premierminister Großbritanniens.
