Warum eine Bibliothek im Süden Indiens Konrad Adenauers Namen trägt…

Am 2. März wurde in Chennai, der Hauptstadt des im indischen Süden gelegenen Bundesstaates Tamil Nadu, eine „Konrad Adenauer“-Bibliothek eröffnet. Doch warum trägt diese den Namen des ersten deutschen Bundeskanzlers? Dies ist eng mit der internationalen Zusammenarbeit der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) verbunden.

2nd Young Politician Network Meeting

On March 10th, 2018, young politicians from the KAS network and alumni from the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP) met for the second time at the invitation of Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative to India of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, to discuss current topics.

Preparatory Meeting for the 35th Joint Staff Development Programme

The KAS India office and the members of the Joint Staff Development Programme (JSDP) - KAS Partner Network met at 6th March 2018 to prepare the annual JSDP meeting. Vishwa Yuvak Kendra and the KAS India office organized the meeting in New Delhi.

IV. TERI-KAS Resource Dialogue

Marine Resources – Sustainable Development Through Geopolitics and Trade

The fourth TERI-KAS Resource Dialogue was held in Chennai from 28th February till 2nd March 2018, in collaboration with the Madras Management Association (MMA), on the broader theme of marine resources, but specifically viewing it through the lens of sustainable development, more particularly the sustainable development goals. The dialogue managed to get together a diverse set of experts drawn from domains of energy to developmental economics, from scientists to security analysts, from legal experts to practitioners, and from inter-governmental organizations to civil society organizations.

Inauguration of the "Konrad Adenauer" library in Chennai

The Madras Management Association in cooperation with the India office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung had organized a seminar on the most contemporary topic “Where from here, Indian Economy?” on Friday, 2nd March 2018. The seminar began with the ceremonial inauguration of the “Konrad Adenauer” library in the new building of the MMA. The Chennai Chapter of the IIMA Alumni Association and the Chennai Chapter of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) were supporting partners of the seminar.

2nd flagship conference of the Indo-German Young Leaders Forum (IGYLF)

Since 2001 India and Germany are strategic partners. To enhance and deepen the people-to-people contacts, the Indo-German Young Leaders Forum (IGYLF) aims to be a platform for bilateral exchange of the young and rising generation of India and Germany. For the second time after the inaugural conference 2017 in Berlin, a conference on various topics with young leaders from both countries was organized this year in New Delhi.

KAS-FICCI Dialogue I

Multilateralism at crossroads

On February 19th, 2018, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized the first dialogue with the topic "Multilateralism at crossroads" in the KAS-FICCI dialogue series, in which not only experts from think tanks and scientists participated but also representatives of the Parliament and the United Nations (UN).

Book Launch

„The Indian Parliament and Democratic Transformation”

On February 12th 2018 Dr. Karan Singh, till last month a member of the Rajya Sabha, and Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of the India office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, presented the book "The Indian Parliament and Democratic Transformation", edited by Dr. Ajay K. Mehra, a partner of the KAS India office for many years.

XIIIth JIMS-PHDCCI-KAS-AMDISA International Conference

On February 10th, 2018, Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to India, addressed the Conference "Business 2025: Driving Growth through Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digitization", organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), KAS India office and the Jagannath International Management School (JIMS).
