Indo-Pacific Security and India

In an era of uncertainty and change

The KAS India office, the Forum for Strategic Initiatives (FSI) and the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) organized a seminar on Indo-Pacific Security and the linked policy options of India in an era of uncertainty and change in New Delhi on December 11th/12th 2017. Participants of the conference, which was conducted under the Chatham House Rule, were among others Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of the KAS in India, as well as the German ambassador to India, Dr. Martin Ney.

9. Editors' Conclave in Kolkata

"Fake News, Real Threats"

The annual Editors' Conclave was conducted for the ninth time by the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the C. R. Irani Foundation from December 4th to 6th, 2017. In Kolkata the eminent participants discussed current challenges of journalism in India on the topic "Fake News, Real Threats". The participants were editors and journalists from major Indian national, regional and online newspapers, as well as the current batch of the Statesman Print Journalism School (SPJS) and law students from the WB National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS).

A Dialogue wit Student Leaders

On 28th November 2017 the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) conducted a joint workshop on student politics in India. It was a rare occasion to have had newly elected Student leaders from various Indian Universities belonging to different student party lines and ideologies at the same platform to discuss and deliberate on issues of concern that matter most to student politics in the Universities of India today.

Socio-Economic Interactions of India’s Border Populations

On November 24th and 25th 2017 experts, scientists and journalists gathered at the invitation of the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS) and the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS). They discussed various topics related to the border regions of India, the border population and their cross-border interactions.

Founding of the „Indo German Association for Legal Cooperation“

On the 16th of November, the founding of the „Indo German Association for Legal Cooperation“ (IGAL) was celebrated in the Indian embassy in Berlin. High-level representatives from politics, the legal fraternity and civil society gathered at the launching ceremony and the subsequent official reception at the embassy.

Young Politician Network Meeting

On October 11th, twelve young politicians of the KAS network including alumni of the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP) met at the invitation of Mr. Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in the office of KAS India to discuss future possibilities of cooperation.
