President José Maria Vasconcelos, alias Taur Matan Ruak, the name he used during East-Timor's struggle for independence, welcomed Dr. Jan Woischnik in his residence. He has expressed his gratitude to KAS, which supports the democratic development of the country since ten years. The independent José Maria Vasconcelos, who was elected April 2012, stressed the need for further economic, democratic and constitutional development of the country which is independent since 2002. Therefore he was pleased to hear that KAS plans to extend its activities with the objective to work together with two centre-right-parties as from January 2013. With this cooperation KAS would provide an additional value to the development and consolidation of democracy as other international organisations have not yet covered the field of political development cooperation focusing on political parties, as the president said. In a first step talented women of Partido Democratico (PD) and Conselho Nacional de Reconstrução de Timor (CNRT) are going to learn more about political communication in workshops supported by KAS.

Dr. Jan Woischnik went on to talk with the president of the parliament and head of Partido Democratico, Fernando de Araújo alias Lasama, as well as with several senior figures of CNRT.
