Ambassador Talk with H.E. Dr. Clemens von Goetze

Discussing current political and social questions in the context of German-Israeli relations was the goal of a discussion that took place on the 4th of April in Herzliya. For this occasion, the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Clemens von Goetze, opened the doors of his residence to a young and international audience. The event was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel (KAS), in cooperation with the Tel Aviv International Salon, an initiative founded by young immigrants to assist international young professionals in Israel in connecting to local decision-makers.

20-Year Anniversary of the Konrad Adenauer Program for Jewish-Arab Cooperation

Supporting the dialog between Jewish and Arab Israelis – with this goal in mind, the Konrad Adenauer Institute, in cooperation with the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, created the “Konrad Adenauer Program for Jewish-Arab Cooperation” (KAP), exactly 20 years ago. The special anniversary was celebrated on March 23rd in Tel Aviv University, with a round of lectures and discussions. Notable participants were the Member of Knesset and former Minister Tzipi Livni and Prof. Eli Rekhess, one of the program’s founders.

Ein neues Projekt der Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Israel und der Unit für soziales Engagement der Tel Aviv

Die Konrad Adenauer Stiftung hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Unit für soziales Engagement der Tel Aviv Universität und der Organisation „HaZibur HaHadash“ ein neues Projekt mit dem Titel „Freie Marktwirtschaft und soziale Verantwortung initiiert. In diesem Projekt analysieren Studenten aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Bereichen der Tel Aviv Universität Herausforderungen für die israelische Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Dafür wird das deutsche Wirtschaftsmodelluntersucht um dann Verbindungspunkte und die Kompatibilität zum Israelischen zu finden.

Experiencing Israel and Jewish culture, discovering similarities and changing perspective – these were the goals that the scholarship recipients of the Konrad Adenauer Institute (KAS) and the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Student Foundation (ELES) had in mind during their week in Israel. This educational program, titled “Is Seeing the Same as Understanding? Perspectives on Israel and the Region” brought many to the conclusion that there are no simple solutions for the Middle East.

Im März machte sich eine Delegation des Cnetz ein Bild von der Start-Up Nation Israel und vernetzte sich im Zuge dessen mit israelischen Entscheidern und aus Wirtschaft und Ministerien. Dabei galt es, Synergieeffekte zu entdecken und von dem beispielhaften Aufstieg Israels vom Orangenexporteur zum Silicon Valley am Mittelmeer zu lernen.

Geopolitik und Energie im Nahen Osten und dem östlichem Mittelmeerraum

Am 10. und 11. Februar veranstaltete die KAS Israel zusammen mit der KAS Türkei und dem Harry S. Truman Research Institute an der Hebrew Universität einen Expertenworkshop zum Thema “Geopolitics and Energy in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean: Current Dynamics and Future Projects”. Der Austausch in diesem Format fand zum fünften Mal, im Rahmen einer Veranstaltungsreihe zur regionalen Energiepolitik, die seit 2013 jährlich – jeweils abwechselnd in der Türkei und in Israel – organisiert wird, statt.

14 weibliche Bundestagsabgeordnete aus der "Gruppe der Frauen" der Unionsfraktion absolvierten Anfang Februar ein Informationsprogramm in Jerusalem. Der naheliegende inhaltliche Schwerpunkt lag dabei auf dem Status von Frauen in israelischer und deutscher Politik, Religion und Zivilgesellschaft sowie Möglichkeiten der Verbesserung von Teilhabe.

Women under the Glass Ceiling

KAS Israel hosted a late lunch and roundtable bringing together the visiting female CDU Bundestag delegation with Israeli women in leadership positions. The roundtable gave participants a platform to learn about the gender gap in each country and share cultural points with one another. The main focus of the visit was the status of women in Israeli and German politics, religion and civil society and methods in improving participation. The roundtable was a continuation of this visit in order to give German participants a more intimate meeting with Israeli women in leadership positions.

The Minerva Center for Human Rights at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Israel and the Occupied Territories, in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, held their 10th Annual Conference on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in Jerusalem on 15-17 November 2015.
