IPCRI STAT: "September and Its Consequences"

The “Strategic Thinking and Analysis Team” (STAT) met again last Thursday, May 19, to discuss the Quartet Parameters for peaceful Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The meeting was arranged by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Jerusalem (KAS) and the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information (IPCRI).

Second Workshop on Comics and Politics: “Comics, Censorship and Freedom of Expression”

On May 16 and 17, the Second Workshop on Comics and Politics took place, focusing on “Comics, Censorship and Freedom of Expression”. Organized in collaboration with the Adenauer Division at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung welcomed international academics, publishers and Israeli artists. The lectures dealt with the development of artistic freedom in Europe as well as the treatment of socio-critical subjects in Israeli comics.

15. – 16. Mai 2011 International Workshop: "Human Rights and Precarious Work"

"Menschenrechte und prekäre Arbeit"

In cooperation with the Minerva Center for Human Rights at the Hebrew University, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized a workshop on "Human Rights and Precarious Work". During the two-day workshop, 22 experts - scholars and practitioners from different national backgrounds - discussed relevant questions on the subject.

Israeli–European Young Diplomats Forum launched at Residence of European Union Ambassador

A new initiative designed to enhance relations between Europe and Israel was launched at the residence of the European Union Ambassador to Israel, Andrew Standley. An initiative of the Israel Council on Foreign Relations supported by the EU Delegation to the State of Israel, the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Polish Embassy and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the "Israeli-European Young Diplomat's Forum" is designed to allow young Israeli diplomats and European diplomats stationed in Israel to better understand each other's culture, values, experiences and perspectives.

The Challenge of Faith and Religious Leadership in Secular Society

Under the participation of high-ranking religious leaders of the Vatican and Israel, the 10th meeting of the Bilateral Commission, took place at the Konrad Adenauer Conference Center, Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Jerusalem, from 29 to 31 March 2011. The Commission discussed “The Challenge of Faith and Religious Leadership in Secular Society”.

Linguistic Policy, Language, and Identity

In the framework of its Konrad Adenauer Program for Jewish-Arab Cooperation at Tel Aviv University the KAS organized important conference on “The Status of Arabic Language in Israel: Linguistic Policy, Language, and Identity”. This topic, which concerns the Israeli society as a whole, generated great interest and attracted a very large audience.

Dr. Lars Hänsel presented with the Ben-Gurion Medal

In the frame of the festive European Forum at the Ben-Gurion University, Dr. Lars Hänsel, as director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel, was presented with the Ben-Gurion Medal for the contribution of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to the Israeli-European relations.

Palestinian nationalism in Israel, origin and perspective

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Jerusalem office organized on March 21st 2011 in cooperation with the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and Africa Studies a lecture within the framework of KAS’s programs at Tel Aviv University. Professor Oded Haklai, an expert for political strategy of the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel, was invited to speak about the roots of Palestinian nationalism. He also presented an outlook about future developments. Dr. Paul Rivlin moderated the event.

Vortragsreihe Humanitäres Völkerrecht

Am 1. März 2011 fand eine weitere Veranstaltung der Vortragsreihe zu Humanitärem Völkerrecht statt. Die Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung lud in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Minerva Zentrum für Menschenrechte der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem, sowie dem Internationalen Komitee vom Roten Kreuz den deutschen Verfassungsrichter Andreas Paulus ein. Andreas Paulus ist seit 2006 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Öffentliches Recht, insbesondere Völkerrecht an der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. 2010 wurde er in den Ersten Senat des Bundesverfassungsgerichts gewählt.
