Conflict in Sudan: An Invitation to a Dialogue Session

A KAS-MDC Forum for Intra-Regional Dialogue

Join us for an expert panel discussing the conflict in Sudan. This event, moderated by Sarah Awaidah, brings together Gal Lusky, the founder of Israeli Flying Aid (IFA), Dr. Haim Koren, former director of the Political Planning Division at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Israeli ambassador to Egypt and South Sudan. They will be joined by Mekki El Mograbi press writer on African Affairs and former diplomat in Washington D.C.

The Jewish King of Warsaw: Szczepan Twardoch in conversation with Michal Zamir

An event forming part of the series "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" in cooperation with KAS Israel

"King" is the latest book by Polish author Szczepan Twardoch, a crime novel telling the story of Yakub Shapira, a Jewish gangster and professional boxer. The author takes his readers into the underworld of 1930s Warsaw and masterfully sketches the growing antisemitism in Polish society at the time. The conversation between Twardoch and journalist Michal Zamir will focus on the Jewish underworld in Poland, the author's extensive research for his book and his surprising choice of subject for this literary work. This event is part of the special "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" series and takes places during the Jerusalem Writers Festival.

Salaam Iran: Golnaz Hashemzadeh Bonde in Conversation with Liraz Charhi

An event forming part of the series "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" in cooperation with KAS Israel

Golnaz Hashemzadeh Bonde was born in Iran and fled to Sweden with her parents when she was a child. In her second novel, "What We Owe", she relates the story of Nahid, an Iranian woman fleeing her country in the wake of Khomeini's rise to power. Designated a "masterpiece" by The Times, this book has won multiple literary awards and was translated into 25 languages. The conversation between Hashemzadeh Bonde and Liraz Charhi will centre around refugees and immigration, the longing for the bygone Iran, the current situation in the country as well as the life of the author. This event is part of the special "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" series and takes places during the Jerusalem Writers Festival.

Am 14. Mai 2018 durfte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel den Ministerpräsidenten des Bundeslandes Sachsen-Anhalt, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, im Goethe-Institut Tel Aviv zum Rundtisch „Bauhaus between Dessau and Tel Aviv – Political Perspectives on the Shared Architectural Heritage“ begrüßen. MP Dr. Haseloff nahm als Ehrengast anlässlich seines Besuches in Israel die Gelegenheit wahr, sowohl für das Erbe des Bauhauses als auch für vertiefte deutsch-israelische Beziehungen in politischer wie wirtschaftlicher Dimension zu werben.

Am 07. Mai 2018 hatte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel die Ehre, Bundespräsident a.D. Christian Wulff zur Bucerius Lecture im King David Hotel in Jerusalem begrüßen zu dürfen. Wulff sprach über die Herausforderungen und Chancen multikultureller Gesellschaften und betonte die Bedeutung eines respektvollen Miteinanders für einen gelungenen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt.

Meeting 1: The Current state of EU-israel Relations

KAS Israel launched a new workshop series on the topic of European-Israeli relationships: “The Adenauer Young Foreign Policy Network”. The participants included representatives from different European embassies, NGOs and think tanks, as well as journalists and scientists. Jonathan Miller, Director of the Department of Multilateral European Organizations at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave a lecture on EU-Israel relations and discussed the current state of this partnership and future challenges.

Stolpersteine- A European Art Memorial

On Tuesday (April 11) project coordinators of the "Stolpersteine" project visited the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel. Dr. Anne Thomas and Anna Warda gave a closer look into the project initiated by the German artist Gunter Demnig. Stolperstein (stumbling blocks) are small, brass-made monuments reminiscent of the victims of the Holocaust. They are placed in front of the last self-elected house of the Nazi victims in the sidewalk.

Hauptabteilungsleiter WD/ACDP und ehemaliger Leiter des Auslandsbüros Israel und Thomas Birringer, Teamleiter Nahost, widmete sich Prof. Vogel zunächst dem Meinungsaustausch mit hochrangigen Vertretern der Knesset.

Ende November wagten zehn junge Unternehmer aus Deutschland einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der "Start-Up Nation" und machten sich im Rahmen eines zweitägigen Dialogprogramms mit der israelischen Innovationsszene vertraut. Dabei trafen sie auf hiesige Gründer, Investoren und auf Vetreter öffentlicher Seite. Daheim in Deutschland werden die Delegationsteilnehmer im Rahmen des KAS Start-Up-Kollegs in ihrer Rolle als Unternehmensgründer gefördert.
