The Amman Security Colloquium 2016

The Amman Security Colloquium is an annual meeting with international security experts. This year’s colloquium was conducted on 16 November 2016 and co-organised by KAS Jordan Office and the Arab Institute for Security Studies. The workshop concentrated on security challenges in the Middle East with a special focus on missile technology development and the implementation of the Hague Code of Conduct (HOC). Promoting dialogue and seeking the resolution of conflicts and global issues, the annual conference aims at fostering peace and stability regionally and internationally.

Countering Radicalization among Jordan’s Youth

KAS Jordan Office in cooperation with MEMPSI and youth centres in Zarqa, Tafileh and Irbid organised workshops on radicalization for 109 young people aged 15 to 26. The major goal of the project is to raise awareness about the definition of extremism, what it can lead to and how it can be combatted, thereby following a thought-provoking approach rather than merely circulating information.

Improvement of Sustainable Development Conditions in the Jordan Valley

In Jordan, one of the most arid countries in the world, droughts, heat waves, lack of rain and water scarcity are not new phenomena and the impacts of climate change are further exacerbating the problem. At the same time, the country is facing diverse economic problems. It is therefore crucial for the economic and environmental development of the country and the future of its next generations to promote a sustainable agriculture, which constitutes a main economic sector in Jordan.

The Jordanian Economy in a Strained Regional Climate

As the crises in Syria and Iraq erupted and borders have been shut down, Jordan has lost two important import-export markets. Also transit trade, connecting Lebanon and Turkey to GCC markets, has suffered significantly. In order to discuss the social and economic impacts of the crises and to identify alternatives and opportunities, KAS Jordan Office in cooperation with al-Quds Center for Political Studies organized a workshop on the 14th of November in Amman.

Development of media skills of the employees of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs

On August 10 – October 12, 2015, Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Amman-Jordan and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Amman Office held a workshop entitled "Development of media skills of the employees of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs"

School Curricula and Textbooks

The Forth workshop of the " Nisan Center Forum for Policy Dialogue", a program supported by Konrad Adenauer Foundation was held on June 16, 2015 in Amman – at Jerusalem Hotel with the participation of about 65 people, as well as a the former Prime Minister Mr. Marouf Al-Bakhit , uni-versity professors, teachers, religious fig-ures, political parties interested people & activists in this field.

Religious Field Reform

The Third workshop of the "Nisan Center Forum for Policy Dialogue", a program supported by Konrad Adenauer Foundation was held on May 30. 2015 in Amman – at Jerusalem Hotel with the participation of about 50 people, as well as a the former Prime Minister Mr. Taher Al-Masri, A number of social & political activists, representatives of political parties In addition to specialist and clerics concerned in this field.

THE ROLE OF MUNICIPAL COUNCILS IN LOCAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

In April 2015, KAS Jordan Office organized in collaboration with Mossawah Center for Civil Society Development a seminar entitled: "The Role of Municipal Councils in Local Community Development" in Ajloun, Jerash and Amman. 50-60 participants discussed the role of municipalities in local development and studied the participatory relationship between municipalities, youth and civil society organizations.

Debate between the Popular Movement (Hirak) and the Government

The second workshop of the "Nisan Center Forum for Policy Dialogue", a program supported by Konrad Adenauer Foundation was held on the 16.05.2015 in Amman, at Nisan Center, with the participation of about 40 people, as well as a the Minister of Political & Parliamentary Affairs/ Dr. Khaled Al- Kalaldeh/, and a number of social & political activists and representatives of political parties, in addition to trade unions representatives.
