Workshop 1

Prevent Violence and Radicalization in Schools I

The workshop brings together 12 female teachers who specialize in social studies and civic education. The teachers will be trained to incorporate lessons from the “Ana Muwaten - I Am a Citizen” training manual into different disciplines of the school curriculum. The principal aim of the workshop is to train teachers on how to encounter and deal with a culture of violence in schools. 

Workshop 2

Prevent Violence and Radicalization in Schools II

In the second workshop on the topic a group of female and male teachers from private schools in Amman will be trained to incorporate three lessons from the “Ana Muwaten - I Am a Citizen" teachers’ manual into the school curriculum. The topics selected for this workshop are “Respecting Diversity,” “Respecting Human Rights,” and “Encountering Physical and Psychological Violence.” The aim of the workshops is to prevent extremist tendencies among young school students.

Worshop 3

Preventing Violence and Radicalization in Schools III

The third and final workshop in the series, it focuses on the topic of citizenship using the “Ana Muwaten - I am a Citizen” teachers’ training manual. A selection of the most capable teachers from the two previous workshops will be trained to enable their students to identify problems in their communities and work on solving them by influencing public policy. The students will be taught to engage with society and decision-makers, raising their awareness of democratic values and their roles as effective citizens in a civil society. This heightened awareness of citizenship will steer students away from a culture of violence and prevent radicalization from occurring in schools.
