Workshop on the Establishment and Functioning of Parliamentary Groups - Foundation Office Cambodia
Workshop
Details
In a parliamentary democracy the elected members of the national parliament represent their constituencies as well as their political parties. The members promise to their electorates that they will work towards the implementation of the values, political platforms and policy reforms of their political parties.
This includes the obligation to stand for these policies in their daily work of legislature and oversight of the government, but it also obliges the parties represented in parliament, to request their members to organize themselves in a way that they can effectively work together to achieve the goals and objectives of the party.
After its successful performance in the 2013 national elections, the members of the Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) elected into the National are organizing themselves for the first time in Cambodian history as a Political Party Parliamentary Group.
Through this Half Day Dialogue on the 25th of October with key Members of Parliament of the CDU from the State Parliament in Berlin, who hold important positions in their parliamentary group as Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson on Environment, the workshop aims to exchange practical experiences between those German Delegates and CNRP Members of Parliament on how to coordinate and organize the work of a parliamentary group in practice.
