Strengthening Skills on Information, Communication and Public Relation work of Capital/Provincial Administrations

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Information organize a training course to promote sub-national democratic development through strengthening the roles and responsibilities of provincial information officers.

The training course on "Effective Information provision & Public Relations of the Capital/Provincial Administration" is one component of the cooperation between Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Information. This capacity building component aligns itself with the three year work-plan of the National Committee for sub-national democratic development (NCCD) - the inter-ministerial mechanism for promoting democratic development through decentralization and de-concentration reforms throughout Cambodia.

The core objective of this training course is to improve the understanding of the role, responsibilities and duties of provincial information officers, to increase their knowledge and skills to properly communicate with the citizens and the media on important decisions, policies, and developments of the local administration.

The training course is organized in two parts.

The first course (3x2 days for 72 information officers) clarifies the legal regulations and stipulations relevant for communication with citizens and the media, defines the roles, duties and responsibilities of information officers and introduces some general communication tools.

The second 3 day training course will be conducted in 2012. This module will focus on practical application of journalistic techniques and skills to improve the quality of information and reporting by the information officers.
