A high standard of civic education teaching is key to teach young Cambodians about societal and political topics as well as related contexts. Against this backdrop, KAS Cambodia and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport have already signed a MoU to promote the quality of Citizenship Education in Secondary Schools by strengthening the capacity of teachers. In order to do this, KAS Cambodia will closely work together with the longstanding and well experienced partner Buddhism for Development on the teaching manuals, introduction of new teaching methods, improvements of teacher trainings as well as the reform of the curriculum with regard to Civic Education.

One part of this project is the preceding assessment of the current situation in nine schools in the provinces Battambang, Banteay Meanchey and Siem Reap. The assessment will help to better understand the learning environment, standard of teaching and quality of teaching methods. Meanwhile the preparation workshop, KAS will discuss with BfD the assessment tools, their use and the assessment time scope.
