Wahlsieger ist vor Internationalem Strafgerichtshof wegen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit angeklagt

Die Wahlen in Kenia, bei denen der neue Präsident, das Parlament, die Gouverneure, die County-Abgeordneten, Senatoren und Frauenbeauftragten gewählt wurden, fanden am 4. März 2013 landesweit in 33.000 Wahllokalen statt. Aus der Präsidentschaftswahl ging mit Uhuru Kenyatta ein Politiker als Sieger hervor, der vor dem Internationalen Strafgerichtshof (IStGH) wegen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit angeklagt ist. Insgesamt verliefen die Wahlen friedlich, sie waren jedoch von technischen Problemen geprägt.

Kenya held its most critical and complex elections in its 50th year since independence on March 4, 2013. Kenya is implementing a devolved 47-county system of government via these polls - electing governors, senators, county representatives and other officials to a brand new devolved structure of government.
