Paralegal Training - Foundation Office Kenya
Workshop
Details
In the recent power wrangles between the Senate and the Members of the Kenyan Parliament, citizens were left in a state of confusion as to which authority they should pay attention. Citizens are called upon to monitor and evaluate their elected leaders, but the public position is being overridden by activities in the two legislative chambers. The citizen need to understand their roles in order to engage in enforcing their civic rights and duties.
The workshop will focus on volunteerism and community service at the county level and will provide an overview of the impact of volunteerism, both on the volunteers themselves and the communities they serve. By looking at a range of non-profit organizations, foundations, faith-based organizations, community groups and corporations, participants will discuss best practices for volunteer recruitment, retention and management. Participants will examine how volunteers of all backgrounds and ages, but especially young people, are inspired to help foster a culture of service and civic responsibility. The forum will also look at the growth of social entrepreneurship in the county and the impact of technology, particularly social networking in developing new avenues for civic engagement and participation.
