Towards realisation of constitutionalism in the New governance system - Foundation Office Kenya
Workshop
Details
No one can say the Kenyan constitution 2010 does not meet the constitutionalism threshold, but the practice and realization of the same requires a civically empowered citizenry. To achieve this goal, civic education on the constitution should be done properly to empower the opinion leaders and citizens as well to be able challenge and demand its allegiance from the powers that be.
After the just concluded general elections, there has been uncertainties’ occasioned by lack of change of tact by the status quo. A good case study is the retention of the County Commissioners by the former administration after the high court over ruled them as unconstitutional. This means, the public has to be empowered to be able to challenge such lack of constitutionalism. The residents of Busia shall be engaged by a legal expert in this endeavor.
