We can’t say the Kenyan constitution 2010 does not meet the constitutionalism threshold, but the practice and realization of the same requires a civically empowered citizenry. To achieve this goal, civic education on the constitution should be done properly to empower the opinion leaders and citizens as well to be able challenge and demand its allegiance from the powers that be.

After the just concluded general elections, there has been uncertainties’ occasioned by lack of change of tact by the status quo. A good case study is the retention of the County Commissioners by the former administration after the high court over ruled them as unconstitutional. This means, the public has to be empowered to be able to challenge such lack of constitutionalism.

This workshop aims at equipping the local community based organizations and opinion shapers, and especially women, in causing the new administration to work within the stipulated legal guidelines and disseminate the information acquired to the grassroots and make us understand the constitutional quota of the women as provided for in the 2010 constitution. The Non-State Actors shall be engaged by a gender expert from the WOMEN POLITICAL ALLIANCE, in this endeavor.
