The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the news portal Domovina.je organized an online discussion on April 24th, 2021 about the health and social aspects of COVID19. With the President of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia, Prof Bojana Beović, MD, Ph.D., and clinical psychologist Aleksandar Zadel, PhD., we discussed the challenges of adhering to the recommended restrictions and the dangers of misinformation about vaccines.

Investment Forum: Lider invest

Lider invest - North

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the business magazine Lider organized together an online event on April 23rd, 2021 within the cycle of investment forums "Lider invest". Entrepreneurs, representatives of institutions, public and local authorities from the north of Croatia discussed the most important investments for economic development and recovery of the country. The goal of the event was to promote productive investments that create new jobs, increase exports and create added value.

EU and the Western Balkan (WB6) States: Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Public and Media Communication

Together with the Hybride Warfare Research Institute, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized on April 21st the first online conference of the series "EU and the Western Balkans (WB6)" in 2021. The focus of the discussion was on the countries of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the importance of statements in political processes by people that shape public opinion and knowledge, as well as their effects on society and the public media space.

Youth and local politics - does it work? And: how does it work?

Panel discussion

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized on April 14th, 2021 in Zagreb together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) and the Youth of the Croatian Democratic Union (MHDZ) from a TV Studio a panel discussion on "Youth and local politics - does it work? And: how does it work?". HDZ politicians, as well as representatives of the Youth of the party, discussed political participation at the local level and the representation and participation of young people in political processes at the local level. They discussed how local and regional self-government can directly influence the quality of life of young people, how young people perceive local government in general, and how to encourage them to participate politically at that level.

Political Academy of NSi

1st Online-Seminar

In cooperation with the NSi Institute "Dr. Janez Evangelist Krek" (IJEK), the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized the first online seminar of the NSi "Political Academy" from March 19th to 20th, 2021. During the 2-day online seminar, representatives of the NSi discussed the importance of political communication, the negative effects of fake news, the influence of social media in election campaigns and Christian democratic values in politics today.

Kavaleuski on an official visit to Slovenia

Mr. Valery Kavaleuski, Representative on Foreign Affairs of the exiled leader of the Belarusian opposition, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, paid a visit to Slovenia between March 18 and 19, 2021. In Bled, Mr. Kavaleuski was welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Matej Tonin. Minister Tonin put an accent on the support for democracy and rule of law in Belarus. During his stay in Ljubljana, he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anže Logar, PhD, who reaffirmed strong Slovenian and European support for strengthening democratic foundations in Belarus. MEP Milan Zver, PhD, and the President of the 'Dr. Jože Pučnik Institute', Andreja Valič Zver, PhD, emphasized a needed commitment to respect human rights and to strengthen civil society. Additionally, Mr. Kavaleuski talked about the current political and social situation in Belarus with several Slovenian media representatives.

Roundtable about Migration und Integration

Together with the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized on February 24th, 2021 a hybrid roundtable on "Women Returnees to Their Cultural Homeland: Integration Success, Challenges and Strategic Recommendations". We talked with colleagues from the Institute, migration experts, and returnees about their experiences with integration into society and the business community, the challenges they faced and we heard recommendations of experts on how to start a business after returning to their Homeland.

Visit to the HDZ Headquarters

The Head of the office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for Croatia and Slovenia, Mr. Holger Haibach visited on February 9th, 2020, together with the Director of the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ), Mr. Srećko Prusina the headquarters of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), where he met with the HDZ Secretary General, Mr. Krunoslav Katačić and talked about the cooperation between HDZ, ZHDZ, KAS and CDU.

IJEK-Seminar

On January 8th, 2021 in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised together with the Institute Dr. Janez Evangelist Krek (IJEK) seminar on f "Strategic Communication". Together with communication experts and analysts, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and Minister of Defence Matej Tonin underlined the importance of constant communication with the public - European values and Christian democracy are the best answers to the current global, political and social crisis.
