Globalisierung und Demokratie

Seminar

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstaltete vom 9. bis zum 13. September 2024 in Dubrovnik gemeinsam mit der Universität Dubrovnik ein Seminar über die Beziehung zwischen Globalisierung und Demokratie. Die Diskussion basierte auf der Grundlage der politischen und sozialen Theorie von Wolfgang Streeck. Die zentrale Frage lautete: Kann eine globale Regierung gebildet werden oder ist die Demokratie historisch und institutionell notwendigerweise an Nationalstaaten gebunden? Zu diesem Thema diskutierten Wissenschaftler aus Slowenien, Kroatien, Bosnien und Herzegowina, Serbien, Deutschland sowie Studenten, die aus Slowenien und Kroatien eingeladen wurden. Die Ergebnisse des Seminars werden auch thematisch in universitären Lehrveranstaltungen und öffentlichen Vorträgen der Dozenten behandelt.

Global Challenges and Opportunities

Interdisciplinary Perspectives from the Philippines and Croatia

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized together with the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Zagreb a conference on "Global Challenges and Opportunities: Interdisciplinary Perspectives from the Philippines and Croatia" on September 9th, 2024 in Zagreb. With the participation of numerous diplomatic representatives and representatives of various universities, the migration agenda as well as the political and economic collaborations between Croatia and the Philippines were discussed.

Political Akademy of the ZHDZ

Certification Handover to graduates of the Political Academy of the ZHDZ

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organised together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) on September 7th, 2024, in Zagreb the last seminar of the 17th generation of the advanced educational series "Political Academy" of the ZHDZ and the first Seminar of the 18th generation. During the event and in the presence of high-ranking HDZ politicians, certificates were handover to the successful graduates of the 17th generation. Afterwards, a panel discussion on the topic of “Migration and the Labor Market” took place, featuring Luka Čirko, Director-General of Directorate-General for Labour Market and Eployment of the The Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy of the Republic of Croatia; Ivan Malenica, MP, former Minister of Justice of the Republic of Croatia; Prof. Dr. Gordan Akrap, Vice-Rector of the University of Defense and Security “Dr. Franjo Tudjman”; and Ivo Stier, MEP.

Political Academy PLUS

Workshop, 4th Generation, Module 5

The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, in cooperation with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ), organized another workshop for the 4th generation of participants of the Political Academy from August 30th to September 1st, 2024, in Dubrovnik. With the participation of the Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik, Mate Franković, and the Chairman of the HDZ County Committee of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Blaž Pezo, communication experts and university representatives discussed with the participants the importance of political communication, particularly digital marketing, as well as emotional intelligence in politics.

Restoring Common Ground

Young Bled Strategic Forum 2024

In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation participated in the organization of the 13th Young Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia from August 30th to September 1st, 2024. The focus of the 13th Young Bled Strategic Forum was the discussion on how best to address social challenges, despite the existing consensus on economic and political issues at the European level. This consensus was intended to serve as a foundation for social actions, even as our realities increasingly diverge today, while pressing challenges can only be overcome through coordinated collective measures. The starting point for the Young Bled Strategic Forum 2024 was the question: “Why are our realities drifting apart?” The forum brought together young experts from around the world to deconstruct the macro and micro forces driving this trend and develop crowdsourced solutions that could help our currently isolated and parallel realities to overlap again. The program focused on participant-driven activities, including workshops, brainstorming sessions, and one-on-one Q&A conversations with experts. Following the conclusion, participants also had the opportunity to attend the Bled Strategic Forum, the main event that has established itself in recent years as the leading high-level conference in Central and Southeastern Europe.

Workshop, 4th generation, Module 4

The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, in cooperation with the Croatian Statehood Foundation HDZ Foundation (ZHDZ), organized another workshop for the 4th generation of participants of the Political Adacemy from June 28th to 30th, 2024, in Mali Lošinj. During the workshop, security and communication experts, along with university representatives, discussed with the participants topics such as international relations and international politics, models of successful management – human resources management, and the importance of political communication.

Political Academy" of the ZHDZ: Final Evaluation

Sommer School

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) from June 20th to 23rd, 2024 on the Island of Vis the "final evaluation" for the 16th generation of the ZHDZ's junior political education program. This weekend seminar always takes place at the end of the second semester of the one-year training course, offers lectures by political stakeholders and serves above all for the evaluation of the training success achieved. With the participation of the former Head of the Office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Croatia and Slovenia, Dr. Michael A. Lange, the participants discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on the economy of Germany and the EU, the significance and challenges of political communication, emotional intelligence in politics, and the management of political image in the media.

Alumni Congress

Together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an alumni congress of the participants of the "Political Academy PLUS" from June 14 to 17, 2024 in Bol on the island of Brač. With the participation of the Croatian Minister of Labour and Pension System, Family and Social Policy, Marin Piletić, and the Croatian Member of Parliament and former Minister of Justice and Public Administration, Ivan Malenica, the participants discussed the migration challenges and needs of the Croatian labour market, the reform of public administration and the importance of digital marketing in modern politics.

G.R.I.D. FORUM 2024

Forum

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized in cooperation with the business magazine Lider the G.R.I.D. 2024 on June 11th. In three panel discussions, university representatives, IT and communications experts as well as representatives of the EU Commission discussed the role of generative AI in the future, the best practices for efficiency and competitiveness, EU Act on AI and the regulation of AI, the AI transformation IT companies and how to deal with risks in cyberspace.
