Political Analysis and Communication ZHDZ

Crisis communication in public administration and politics, 2nd Workshop

In cooperation with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized the 2nd workshop of the series: "Political Analysis and Communication" for the Board of the HDZ Split in Trogir on the island of Čiovo from May 19th to 20th, 2023. During the workshop, the participants discussed with the president of HDZ Split, Tomislav Šuta, the president of the HDZ of the county of Split-Dalmatia and member of the Croatian Parliament, Ante Sanader and communication experts the strategies of political communication, the importance of crisis communication as well as about the forms of public appearance in election campaigns.

Together with the Croatian Security Association, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an international security conference entitled "Croatian Security Industry: Private Security 2023" in Zagreb on April 27th, 2023. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the existence of the Croatian County Association (CCA), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized organized together with the CCA a conference on “Future of local and regional democracy in Croatia” in Opatija on April 28th, 2023. With the participation of the Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, as well as representatives of counties and ministries, during the conference we discussed possibilities for better networking and cooperation between the counties as well as challenges of local and regional self-government in the future.

Together with the Web portal ZGRADOnačelnik.hr, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a radio show about renewable energy in Croatia on the radio station Poslovni FM on April 19th, 2023. We discussed with Hrvoje Pandžić, Head of the Institute for High Voltage and Energy at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), the great potential of electricity production from renewable sources.

Building a philanthropy and fundraising culture in Croatia

Together with the Croatian County Association (CCA) and the Žuta točka Institute, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a conferene on „Building a philanthropy and fundraising culture in Croatia“ in Zagreb from March 29th to 31st, 2023. The conference is intended to contribute to building a successful fundraising culture in Croatia in order to improve the level of fundraising knowledge in society. The conference should also contribute to the creation of scenarios for crisis communication, making contact with donors and solving complaints. During the conference, participants also discussed strategic planning tools for the successful governance of NGOs and the importance of transparent NGO financial reporting to the functioning of any non-profit organization.

Europe’s Security at Stake – Zagreb Security Forum (ZSF)

International Security Conference

Together with the Hybrid Warfare Research Institute and the MEP Office Karlo Ressler, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an international security conference on “Europe’s Security at Stake – Zagreb Security Forum” in the European Parliament in Bruxelles on March 22, 2023. During the conference, leading national and digital security & defense experts from the EU discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine on security and prosperity in Europe, the hybrid attacks from the East, the pressure of the migration waves on the European external borders, the anti-European propaganda by the Russian regime, the Serbian appropriation of the Croatian cultural heritage and the use of energy blackmail as an Instrument of aggression against Europe. The key message of the security conference is: "Only a united and determined Europe can defend itself against comprehensive hybrid attacks on the freedom and security of the EU and Croatian citizens."
