Radio Show

Together with the Web portal ZGRADOnačelnik.hr, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a radio show about renewable energy in Croatia on the radio station Poslovni FM on April 19th, 2023. We discussed with Hrvoje Pandžić, Head of the Institute for High Voltage and Energy at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), the great potential of electricity production from renewable sources.

Building a philanthropy and fundraising culture in Croatia

Conference

Together with the Croatian County Association (CCA) and the Žuta točka Institute, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a conferene on „Building a philanthropy and fundraising culture in Croatia“ in Zagreb from March 29th to 31st, 2023. The conference is intended to contribute to building a successful fundraising culture in Croatia in order to improve the level of fundraising knowledge in society. The conference should also contribute to the creation of scenarios for crisis communication, making contact with donors and solving complaints. During the conference, participants also discussed strategic planning tools for the successful governance of NGOs and the importance of transparent NGO financial reporting to the functioning of any non-profit organization.

Smart Solutions for Sustainable Urban Development

SMART CITIES 2023

In cooperation with the business magazine "Lider", the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a conference on "Smart Solutions for Sustainable Urban Development" from March 28th to 29th, 2023 in Zagreb. With the participation of the Croatian Minister of Regional Development and EU-Funds, Šime Erlić, numerous domestic and foreign city and company representatives, politicians as well as administrative experts discussed the best practice examples of innovations, integral solutions and services for sustainable cities, financing of the green and digital transformation, traffic solutions through artificial intelligence and IT tools for an energetically renovated city.

Political Analysis and Communication ZHDZ

1st Workshop

In cooperation with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized the 1st workshop of the series: "Political Analysis and Communication" for the Board of the HDZ Zagreb in Rovinj from March 24th to 26th, 2023. During the workshop, the participants discussed with the president of HDZ Zagreb, Mislav Herman, the president of the HDZ of the county of Istria and member of the Croatian Parliament, Anton Kliman and communication experts the strategies of political communication, the importance of crisis communication as well as about the forms of public appearance in election campaigns.

Europe’s Security at Stake – Zagreb Security Forum (ZSF)

International Security Conference

Together with the Hybrid Warfare Research Institute and the MEP Office Karlo Ressler, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an international security conference on “Europe’s Security at Stake – Zagreb Security Forum” in the European Parliament in Bruxelles on March 22, 2023. During the conference, leading national and digital security & defense experts from the EU discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine on security and prosperity in Europe, the hybrid attacks from the East, the pressure of the migration waves on the European external borders, the anti-European propaganda by the Russian regime, the Serbian appropriation of the Croatian cultural heritage and the use of energy blackmail as an Instrument of aggression against Europe. The key message of the security conference is: "Only a united and determined Europe can defend itself against comprehensive hybrid attacks on the freedom and security of the EU and Croatian citizens."

Study Trip of the Political Academy PLUS of the ZHDZ

Study Trip

Together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a study trip for the participants of the 2nd and 3rd generation of the Political Academy PLUS of the ZHDZ in Cadenabbia, Italy, from March 6th to 9th, 2023. Within the study trip, the participants were received in Milan by the Consul of the Republic of Croatia in Italy, Mr. Stjepan Ribić, who introduced the participants to the functioning of the Italian administration and Croatian emigration. During the study trip, participants took part in lectures on European values, migration challenges, challenges of inflation and introduction of the euro, labor market adjustment in the context of green and digital transition, and reform of the Croatian electoral system.

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) organized another educational event of the series "Youth and Politics" in Slavonski Brod from February 17th to 19th, 2023. The selected graduates of the Political Academy PLUS of the ZHDZ discussed with university representatives and communication experts the importance of teamwork and team management in politics, the obstacles to effective communication, the relationship between ethics and politics and the media and politics, the dangers of media manipulation and the importance of media literacy in the modern political landscape.

The Importance of Central Europe for the EU - Common European Defence and Foreign Policy

The Office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Croatia and Slovenia organized a conference of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for heads of country offices and regional programs from Southeast Europe and the countries of the Western Balkans from February 1st to 3rd, 2023 in Trakošćan. During the three-day conference, heads of KAS offices exchanged views with politicians (diplomats), security and migration experts on the 3-Seas-Initiative, the Belt and Road Initiative (16+1), the common position of the EU countries on Russia's attack and the war in Ukraine, and a possible common European security and defense policy.
