Mitigating our Butterfly Effect

Young Bled Strategic Forum 2023

In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation participated in the organization of the 12th Young Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia from August 25th to 28th, 2023. The subject of the 12th Young Bled Strategic Forum is inspired by the work of American mathematician and meteorologist Edward N. Lorenz, who used the metaphor: “When a butterfly flutters its wings in on part of the world, it can eventually cause a hurricane in another” and the globalised world of today is increasingly interconnected, reliant on the understanding of our environment, and dependant on actions of multiple stakeholders. The 12th Young Bled Strategic Forum continued to build on its tradition and interactive framework. This has created capacity, gathered knowledge, and acknowledged the strength of young stakeholders, that can cause or prevent a hurricane through decisive and responsible action, contributing to solidarity and resilience within our societies. Again, this year, the forum enabled cooperation between young executives and an exchange with decision makers and international representatives.
