The future of public broadcasting in Latvia

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the public policy portal politika.lv. are inviting to attend the public opinion exchange on Latvian public media on 18th of January in Satori bookshop in Riga, Bergs Bazar from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Invitation to the exchange of ideas

Latvian public media - illusions and expectations

Loss of professional journalists. Rating declines. Inefficient management. Creativity crisis and the lack of money. These are just a few examples, which currently represent the public image of public television and radio. Will a new public media change the society’s attitude and how should it be to gain the audience's trust?

The participants of the discussion are: Media researcher Jānis Juzefovičs, LTV journalist Arnis Krauze, newspaper Neatkarīgā Rīta Avīze columnist Viktors Avotiņš and broadcast Nekā personīga (TV3) director and producer Arta Ģiga. The discussion will be chaired by journalist Baiba Strautmane. A discussion will be translated live in www.politika.lv and on the Konrad Adenauer Foundation www.kas.de/lettland website. After the discussion, everyone is invited to continue the discussions with a glass of wine.

Since the number of seats in the Satori bookshop is limited, please express your interest to attend the discussion until 16.01. by writing to straustina@politika.lv .

The next debate on the national language in Latvia will take place on 15.02.
