VI. Dikli Forum "Social Market Economy - Dual Vocational Training and Education" - Foundation Office Baltic States
Seminar
Details
The Latvian way to address the challenges of the severe financial and economic crisis is often perceived as a success story. However migration, high youth unemployment and the absence of future perspectives are challenging decision makers in Latvia and abroad. Hence the German dual vocational education system attracts notice worldwide. Dual vocational education means training in companies and vocational schools at the same time. The system is seen as a guaranty for high quality vocational education and a low rate of youth unemployment. The acquired knowledge in the vocational schools is applied directly in the companies which receive young qualified workforce.
The governments of Latvia and Germany signed an agreement in 2013 on assistance and advice to introduce the dual vocational education system. The intention is to adapt the German education system to the Latvian realities and to introduce it partly.
The 6th Dikli Forum addresses entrepreneurs and representatives of education and state institutions. The workshop aims to inform on the vocational education system, to demonstrate its possibilities and limits as well as to analyze its advantages and preconditions.
