Details

The Ministry of State for Women’s Affairs in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will hold in Beirut on September 28th 2017 a workshop on gender mainstreaming in cooperation with 24 Lebanese members of political parties.

Women in Lebanon -with only four women in parliament- are politically underrepresented. A 30% quota was not approved by the parliament. The need of the representation of half of the Lebanese population cannot be ignored. Therefor the workshop aims to make a contribution to strengthen women in the next parliamentary elections. The aim is to develop strategic action plans for political parties – in particular with regard to leadership positions. In addition, the action plans should aim to nominate more women candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The action plans will be presented in a following conference on October 6th 2017.
