Conflict Prevention and Human Rights in Lebanon

Training and Graffiti in order to promote the youth in Al-Qaa

To reconcile Syrians and Lebanese, train the youth in conflict prevention and human right as well as to promote tourism, the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation worked toghether with the NGO Dawaer on behalf of the Bernhard-Vogel-Foundation in Al-Qaa, North Bekaa-valley. On the 9th and 10th of June, a final workshop taught the youth life skills with regard to human rights, conflict management and dealing with racism. Also, in a community project a graffiti artist from Beirut and teenagers from Al-Qaa created interactive wall paintings in order to raise awareness for similar reconciliation projects.

Security Amidst Dissolution

Conference on the security situation in the Middle East

On 25th and 26th of May 2018, KAS and Maison du Futur - in cooperation with the Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies, the UQAM Center and the Municipality of Bikfaya - organized their annual conference on “Security amidst Dissolution” in Bikfaya. The conference offered a platform to discuss the security situation in the wider Middle Eastern region to various renowned experts from various countries and more than 200 guests.

On the 11th of April 2018 the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Maison du Futur held a conference on “The Challenge of the Youth in Lebanon: From Crisis to Opportunity”. The event featured the presentation and discussion of a policy paper by Jean-Pierre Katrib and Makram Rabbah and was moderated by Nadim Koteich.
