Cathedra Adenauer 2020

Post-electoral challenges and EU perspective

From 17 September to 02 October, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung office in Skopje (KAS), in cooperation with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies from Brussels (WMCES), organised 3 expert panel discussions in Skopje, Shtip and Bitola.

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, KAS Skopje and the Martens Centre were able to organise events with physical attendance together, in accordance with safety protocols, albeit with some hybrid elements for international speakers.

The general goal of these events was to launch a discussion on the main post-electoral challenges and the EU perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia. Politicians, professors and experts discussed numerous topics, including party pluralism and social polarisation, EU accession negotiations, priorities and challenges of the new Assembly, public health, education, and COVID-19, as well as the economic fallout due to the pandemic.
