#KASHuffPost - Youth and Politics in Different Regions of the World

Lively interactions at the opening event of the Adenauer-Huffington-Briefing in Berlin

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Huffington Post Germany have entered into a short term partnership which will see KAS staff based in 13 countries contributing articles about their work and the political and social trends on the ground. Over the course of the next few weeks, the blog posts will try to tackle the question of how politics can appeal to young people around the world.

#AfricaBlogging Members prepare Launch of Blogger Platform

Compared to Europe, the reporting in African media is often not very diverse and media companies are often influenced by state interests. Blogs can therefore play a vital role in enriching diversity of opinion and providing an alternative source of information. Their independent point of view allows them to foster new debates and set fresh agendas. Blogs covering political topics are increasingly deepening their quality and depth. Although more superficial news services like twitter can provide rapid updates, bloggers are managing to distinguish themselves by offering more analysis and depth.

Young lawyers learn to defend media freedom in East Africa

If journalists are the frontline in the battle to protect media freedom, then the last line of defense is perhaps the idealistic lawyers with the smarts to challenge restrictions by taking litigation beyond national courts through to regional and international structures.

Enjoy radio with all your senses, anywhere and anytime

A Change of Perspectives

Study and dialogue programme about the relationship between media and politics in Germany

The relationship between the media and political parties in Sub-Saharan Africa is often strained and at worst dysfunctional. This is what motivated KAS Media Africa to generate a dialogue on how this relationship can be professionalised for the benefit of both target groups and the public. In mid-June a group of eleven young journalists and party officials spent a week in the German capital of Berlin undertaking an intensive study and dialogue programme aimed at illuminating the relationship between media and politics in Germany.
