KAS Media Africa supports the Sixth Edition of the Africa Check Fellowship Programme for Francophone Journalists

From 7 to 22 July 2025, KAS Media Africa once again partnered with Africa Check to support the sixth edition of its Francophone Fact-Checking Fellowship Programme in Dakar, Senegal. The initiative brought together five journalists from Bénin, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, and Mali for an immersive 12-day workshop in verifying information, debunking misinformation, and strengthening journalistic credibility.

First Pan-African Media Councils’ Summit 2025, Arusha, Tanzania

KAS Media Africa supports the first gathering of the Network of Independent Media Councils of Africa (NIMCA) to advance media regulation and ethical journalism

From 14 - 17 July 2025, KAS Media Africa supported the First Pan-African Media Councils’ Summit, hosted in Arusha, Tanzania, by the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) in partnership with the Network of Independent Media Councils of Africa (NIMCA), the East Africa Press Councils (EAPC), and the World Association of Press Councils (WAPC). The summit brought together media regulators and stakeholders from across the continent to reflect on regional challenges, share best practices, and strengthen cooperation for ethical and sustainable journalism.

African Press Council Leaders Explore Media Regulation in Berlin, Germany and Brussels, Belgium

From 2 to 6 June, KAS Media Africa facilitated a five-day dialogue programme, fostering peer learning and cooperation on independent media regulation across continents.

Eight senior members of press councils from seven African countries visited Berlin and Brussels to engage with European institutions and experts on media regulation. The programme supported exchange on tackling disinformation, understanding EU legislative frameworks, and strengthening the newly founded Network of Independent Media Councils in Africa (NIMCA).
