The 2024 Africa Journalism and Media Summit, held in Harare, Zimbabwe, from November 12 to 14, provided an essential platform for journalists, media experts, media owners and other stakeholders in the industry, to navigate the challenges facing local journalism.
Exploring New Frontiers in Investigative Journalism
Over 400 journalists from more than 55 countries gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the 20th edition of the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC). Spanning three days, the conference highlighted critical themes shaping journalism today, including data journalism, cyber and crypto crime, cultural art and NFT investigations, journalist safety, health investigations, and AI-driven disinformation.

Exploring Media Resilience, Trust, and Collaboration Across Continents
Between October 19th and 22nd, KAS Media Africa hosted an International Round Table on Public Service Media (PSM) in Dakar, Senegal – where the African Broadcasting Union (AUB) is based - bringing together experts from across Africa and Europe. This pivotal gathering provided a unique platform to examine the challenges, opportunities, and shared experiences shaping public service media on both continents.

Countering Disinformation in Africa: Challenges, Innovations and Strategic Responses
The KAS Media Programme Sub-Saharan Africa once again supported this year’s Africa Facts Summit, which brought together around 200 fact-checkers, journalists and media experts from across the continent. They gathered in Accra, Ghana, to address challenges and innovations in the fight against misinformation and disinformation in Africa.
